Hey, I’m not sure if you have seen this but someone on Instagram somehow managed to get clear images of all the dinosaur cards from the anime, including the Black T-rex. This could provide the Wikia some information that it has been missing for years.
Yeah, just looking at Shunosaurus shows the proportions are all wrong, its head is not that big in-frame and its lower jaw is too close to the bottom edge. The Black T-Rex is also in a notably different position, and Gigas, Armatus, and Maximus never had unarmored anime cards. It's all fanmade. Good quality fanmade, I salute their effort, but fanmade.
We've had a "Favorite anime Grass Dinosaur" poll before, and the main dinosaur's species won easily, so I'd expect something similar for Fire, though it can be done. I'd suggest it be a non-anime species list to avoid the obvious result. I'm actually surprised that "Who was the better villain team" hasn't been done before. Thoughts on using either?
So to be sure, the Tai 1st Ext uses Jap 1st/2nd images for old cards, and Jap 2nd and 3rd images for those introduced after Jap 1st depending on which they debuted in, but only for Dinosaurs and some Super Moves, new Super Moves from Jap 3rd being different (I see Jap 3rd Lightning Spear, but Jap 4th Tragedy of the Sphere, and what looks to be an original Fire Cannon), right?
And the Tai 2nd uses Jap 3rd images when available except for those new in Jap 3rd or 4th or not in 3rd (Giganotosaurus), which get original images also used by Eng 2nd and sometimes 5th, at least for Dinosaurs; Moves and Super Moves are cleanly from Jap 4th, but no trophy cards to speak of.
This all results in:
-Tai 1st (or is it Tai Original?) = Jap 1st
-added Tai 1st Ext = added Jap 2nd & 3rd (with 2 Super Move exceptions)
-added Tai 2nd = added Jap 4th, but with mostly Jap 3rd Dino images
Okay, things are starting to come together. Except the alleged 1st vs. Original editions for Eng and Tai. What, if anything, is the difference?
Hey, I've been thinking. If the English and Taiwanese arcade versions are so similar "most" of the time, should we give both of them the same page for the 2008 Special Edition and Series 2 editions? Like, have a single page per edition with a single list but links to two Gallery pages? The Series 1 editions are messy and unsynched enough to keep them separate, at least early on, but after that they line up with the same edition names, so? Just a thought to save effort and making identical pages.
Also, if you see this before I'm done, my recent images were just the start, I have 300 more new images I found from the same eBay person you appear to have been using (and a place or two other), and I'll be uploading them wholesale in batches throughout the day. So, heads up.
Actually I already search as I can, but as you uploaded them right now, you use them for the pages and I will arrange them. I bought a new Oppo phone in March and start to take photo for my cards too. BTW, for English and Taiwanese editions, you really need to seperate them. As Taiwanese didn't have English Nemesis Edition, English didn't have anime dinosaur cards and Series 2 5th Edition. Plus, for the Series 1, Taiwanese only had four editions but the English have five.
I knew to separate the Series 1 editions, it was just the 08 Special and S2 1st-4th editions I was talking about originally; the anime dinos' section could've been noted as Taiwanese only. It was only a thought, though.
And, as it continues to nag at the back of my mind, I have to formally ask: are you sure there's a difference between the English "Original" and "1st" Editions? If you saw a card of one, how would you know which you were seeing? It's just that I've seen no indication of there being both when looking at the cards themselves, just one unlabeled edition, but I know I haven't seen everything. The poster above proves to me the Taiwanese 1st and 1st Extension both exist, but English Original vs. 1st is one of the last big mysteries.
Run that by me again. So it seems like you're saying Eng Original is Jap 1st (and Tai 1st) while Eng 1st adds the new cards from Jap 2nd & 3rd (like Tai 1st Extension), right? And then Nemesis is a re-release of one of them, but which? And is there any visible labeling difference between Eng Original and 1st? Because even though the cards look the same, for instance, the Jap 2nd Tyrannosaurus says "第2紀" where the Jap 1st version said "竜-01", so I know at a glance which wave it's from.
